Landscape painter Ric W. Horner is passionate about nature conservation and the mental health benefits of gardens. He is opening his stunning space this year as part of the NGS-The National Garden Scheme. Over the duration of 12 years, he has developed this plot into an impressive wildlife area, packed full of pollinator-friendly flowers, ponds, romantic walk-ways and a small woodland area. He joins the NGS nearly every year, so hundreds of visitors can enjoy this wonderful space too.

By getting involved in this way, he is helping to raise money for nursing and health charities through admissions. The NGS’s core beneficiaries include Carer’s Trust, Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie, Hospice UK, Parkinson’s UK and The Queen’s Nursing Institute. In 2025 alone, the NGS made an annual donation of over £3.8 million.
