.“Ric Horner’s artwork has a metaphorical resonance that is reminiscent of great nineteenth-century landscape painting and yet it is utterly modern, firmly resisting the urban world.

I have no doubt that, in due course, he will be recognised as one of the most significant landscape artists of our time.”

Dr Ian Mortimer, BA MA PhD DLitt FRHistS

This to say how delighted I am to have your painting of Hay Tor – thank you! It’s a glorious and poignant testament to my special affection for Dartmoor. It’s gorgeous. I am really so very pleased that it will have a place here in my home, not simply for its own sake but also for the emotional connection it holds for me.

I hope it impresses upon you just how special your painting is for me.

I am truly appreciative. But, that aside, I love the piece for itself, quite apart from any of those contextual references; the colour, the composition, its soul.  Thank you; I shall cherish it.Sarah M. , Surrey

Wonderful stuff. Don’t be offended if I say Turner-esque.”

Fabulous work!” Marco J. F., London

“We are now the proud owners of this beautiful oil painting called ‘Battersea’. 20 something years ago we lived 15 floors up in a tower block in Stockwell. Ric Horner in, we think, 1993/4, painted this from our balcony. Our children’s first home and our view for some 15 years.

We love it!” Alison & Gareth T., London.

A Truly Memorable Art Lesson

“I first discovered Ric Horner’s lessons online and decided to book a session at his Whitstable studio—and I’m so glad I did. The studio is beautifully situated with a view across the sea, and the light and atmosphere make it feel as if the water is right at your doorstep. Simply being there is inspiring and wonderfully distracting. Ric was so warm and welcoming from the start, instantly putting me at my ease. The lesson itself was relaxed and great fun, and despite my very limited experience with art, I never felt judged. He offered guidance in a way that was both encouraging and practical. I also had the chance to explore his studio further and see works in progress, which was a real treat. The scale and detail of his larger paintings were particularly impressive. While I couldn’t take home an original piece, I treated myself to a few greeting cards, which were a lovely memento of the day, and Ric generously gave me a discount. Overall, it was an inspiring and engaging experience. I left feeling motivated to paint more and grateful for the insight and encouragement Ric provided. If you’re thinking of booking a lesson, I would wholeheartedly recommend it—it’s a rare opportunity to learn directly from a talented artist in a creative, welcoming environment.”  Helen Cole, London
